About 80 miles north of San Francisco is the town of Geyserville. Formerly known as Clairville Station, its name was changed when the geysers and hot springs were discovered in the hills east of town in the mid-1800s. It is a peaceful, colorful community with the feel of an earlier age. Geyserville is rich in wineries, bed and breakfast inns, restaurants, shops and art galleries. It is a pleasant place to picnic, bicycle, canoe on the upper reach of the Russian River or boat on nearby Lake Sonoma.
